Bold colors, angular shapes - paintings, graphics and sculptures by the Kühlungsborn-based artist Wilfried Schröder. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, the Kunstverein is showing works from the decades of his long artistic life. The overarching theme is life on the coast.
Wilfried Schröder writes about his work:
Sometimes what I see is more than I can (and want to) imagine.As if I don't want more than what I see. What appears to be an invention can be taken as an insight into associations. If sculpture and figure still exist at all, then I only succeed in creating them, when a coincidence has made me see something, when I am touched by feeling and imagery, inevitably quite concretely.
What I see is what I lose. Drawing, sculpture, photo are my external memory, are for me the permanent presence of the living.
The Kunstverein and Wilfried Schröder invite you to the opening on Fri 31.10. at 6 pm, admission free. The exhibition is open until 20.12., Wed to Sat 2 - 5 pm.
